Rome man spits on officer after DUI crash in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On July 19th, 2022, at 7:03 AM, Officer O’Bryan was dispatched to a domestic altercation on Teat Street. Officer O’Bryan arrived and observed Captain Bohannon speaking with Micheal Shane Lecroy, 36, of Rome, that was involved. Officer O’Bryan reported, “While Standing with Michael, [I] tried to talk with him to which he refused to answer. [I] asked Michael his name to which he gestured with his hands that his lips were “zipped” and “locked”, [I] asked for his name again to which he turned his back to me with his hands behind him.” The female was able to provide the male’s information to officers. Dispatch advised that Michael had a warrant through the Sheriffs Office. The female advised that the argument was over her doing laundry and the washing machine not working. She said that Michael made threats but would not specify what was said. According to the warrant, Michael crashed near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 6th Street. The warrant said Michael was found to have been driving under the influence at the time of the crash. While being placed under arrest, Michael proceeded to spit in the officer’s face. Michael was booked into the Floyd County Jail, charged with simple battery against a police officer, obstruction, DUI, reckless driving, too fast for conditions, following too closely, and probation violation.
