Rome woman and Menlo woman arrested after separate shoplifting incidents at the Trion Walmart

According to two separate Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident reports, on October 17th, 2021 at around 3:02 PM, Deputy Rebecca Farmer was dispatched to the Walmart located at 13427 US-27 in reference to a shoplifter in custody. The AP for Walmart advised he observed Kayla Sheree Brown, 34, of Rome, “using the grocery side self check out. He stated that as he watched, she scanned some items while there were other items she did not scan but instead put straight in a bag. He advised that Mrs. Brown then proceeded to the exit, passing all points of sale, without paying for the other items,” according to Deputy Farmer. There were 21 items that were not scanned and valued at $73.51. She was arrested and transported to the Chattooga County Jail, charged with theft by shoplifting. On Saturday, October 16th, 2021, at around 2:13 PM, the same AP Walmart associate observed Robin Cavin, 47, of Menlo, using the self check out. He further advised that Mrs. Cavin failed to scan all the items that were bagged. After paying for the items she did scan, Mrs. Cavin then passed all points of sale without paying for the remaining items, which totaled $83.68,” according to Deputy Farmer. She was arrested and transported to the Chattooga County Jail, charged with theft by shoplifting.
