Rome woman arrested for DUI after crashing vehicle in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, on June 16th, 2021, at around 11:59 PM, Officer Wright arrived on the scene of a vehicle crash on Elliott Drive and observed a silver KIA Rio sideways in the roadway. Officer Wright reported, “[I] made contact with PFC Doan who was already on scene and Alexizandera Symone Jones, 26, of Rome, who was speaking to Doan. [I] could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Alex. [I] went to speak with a witness who stated when she saw the vehicle, Alex was sitting in the driver’s seat with her seatbelt on.” According to the report, Alex showed several clues of impairment during field sobriety, and due to her level of intoxication, she was unable to complete the test. Officer Wright reported, “Due to the totality of the circumstances consisting of Alex’s manner of driving, the odor of alcoholic beverages, slurred speech, inability to form coherent sentences, and all clues observed during field sobriety, [I] determined that Alex was at the very least less safe to operate a motor vehicle. Alex was placed in handcuffs and read implied consent, to which she agreed.” Alex was transported to the Floyd County Jail, charged with DUI-driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain lane.
