Rome woman arrested for DUI child endangerment after driving drunk with her kids in Floyd County

According to the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office, “On July 31, 2022, at 5:14pm, Troopers responded to a request from an off-duty Floyd Sheriff’s Deputy (Deputy Willliams) on a traffic stop. When on scene, Troopers were advised that the Deputy had been flagged down by several subjects in reference to an SUV traveling south on GA 1. Deputy Williams observed the vehicle traveling south with two shredded left tires. He stated the vehicle was failing to maintain its lane and driving into the median. He activated his emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. He advised Troopers that he believed the driver to be under the influence as he detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver. Deputy Williams then turned the stop over to Troopers and they came in contact with the driver who was identified as Shelley Samantha Hass. In the vehicle were two young children ages 2 and 7. As Troopers spoke with Ms. Hass, they detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. Ms. Hass provided a breath sample which showed positive for alcohol and Troopers proceeded to administer field sobriety test. Ms. Hass was placed under arrest for DUI, DUI child endangerment x2, failure maintain a single lane, and tire violation.”
