Rossville man arrested after being caught on video stealing catalytic converters in Catoosa County

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on May 31st, 2022, a victim on Mack Smith Road reported he has had another catalytic converter taken from one of his work vehicles. He has recently reported the first and is working with a detective about it. According to the report, “The victim sent via email the pictures of the suspect to the detective. The pictures showed the white male, who was on a bicycle, leaving the area. As the suspect left, he had on a backpack with catalytic converts in it. At 10:30 AM, Detective Pitts was contacted by the victim. The victim provided videos of the theft of the Dodge Durango catalytic converter. According to the report, “While reviewing the videos, Detective Pitts was able to identify the offender as Timothy Earl Smith, 53, of Rossville, due to multiple previous interactions with Mr. Smith. Detective Pitts obtained warrants for the arrest of Mr. Smith. On June 1st, 2022, at 3:37 AM, Deputy Henry responded to 122 Hollywood Drive in reference to Timothy Smith having active warrants through Catoosa County. Deputy Henry met with the detective who already had Smith in custody. Smith was then transported to the Catoosa County Jail, where he was served on the active warrants for felony theft by taking, felony probation violation, theft by taking and loitering, and prowling.
