Rossville man arrested for DUI drugs after running red light and failing to maintain lane on Chickamauga Ave

According to a Rossville Police Department incident report, On October 6th, 2022, at 12:04 AM, while Sgt. Carter was sitting at the intersection of West Gordon Avenue and Chickamauga Avenue when he observed a 1994 Ford F-150 run a traffic light that was still red (a sign is clearly posted “no turn on red”). Sgt. Carter reported, “As [I] followed the vehicle prior to initiating a traffic stop, [I] observed the vehicle fail to maintain lane as it turned onto West Crest Road. When [I] initiated the traffic stop, the vehicle turned north onto Waheela Drive and stopped. When [I] approached the driver’s door, [I] could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.” Sgt. Carter then made contact with the driver, identified as Christopher Manuel Milo, 46, of Rossville, who advised everything was okay. Christopher advised the officer he did not see the posted sign. Sgt. Carter reported, “Christopher was slurring his words, and at first glance [I] noticed his eyes were bloodshot with a glazed watery look. At that time, [I] asked Christopher for his license, and he said that he did not have it on him. Christopher gave me his name and date of birth. Christopher was then asked to exit the vehicle. When Christopher got out of the vehicle, he was having trouble keeping his balance. During field sobriety tests, Christopher showed several signs of impairment. Walker County 911 then advised that Christopher’s driver’s license was suspended and that the vehicle tag had been suspended since 2018. While the officer was conducting an inventory search of the vehicle for weapons or drugs, he located a brown Cigarillo cigarette (that was still hot) with a burnt residue that later tested positive for marijuana. Christopher was then placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Christopher was transported to the Walker County Jail, where he was booked and released on an O/R bond. Christopher was charged with DUI-Drugs, driving while license suspended, obedience to traffic control device, no insurance, driving with a suspended tag, failure to maintain lane, and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
