Several Chattanoogans banned from the Oyster Pub in Dalton after large brawl

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on Saturday, August 21st, 2021, at around 3:00 AM, Officer Walker, Officer Selby, and Lt. Eaton were at a traffic stop on Market Street at the entrance of the Oyster Pub. During the traffic, stop officers observed a large group of people yelling at each other and appeared to be in the beginning stages of a large violent brawl. According to the report, “At least fifty people were involved at this point” Officers requested other units to respond to help contain the large crowd. Officer Walker reported, “We drove to the area of the crowd with our emergency lights and sirens activated, and the people involved began to disperse. [I] exited my patrol car and deployed my expandable baton and started telling people in the parking lot they needed to leave. Less than a few minutes had passed, then a group of people began to yell and shout at each other. It was unclear who threw the first punch, but a group of fifty people began to fight.” Officers on scene began to give loud verbal commands to the subjects fighting to no avail. According to the report, “None of the parties involved were responding to the verbal commands, and several bystanders started to become involved to help break up the fight.” Officer Walker reported, “Due to the number of people actively fighting and the large crowd close in proximity to the fight, [I] pointed my taser at several subjects involved in the fight and gave loud verbal commands to stop fighting. There were over fifty people involved in this incident at one point, and none of them appeared to respond to anything the officers on scene were saying.” Officers reported they were also worried that the crowd might turn on them at any time and try to chase physical harm to them or the other bystanders on the scene attempting to help. After a few minutes, the crowd started to disperse and leave. According to the report, “The fight was broken up fairly quickly by officers and helpful bystanders. Officers could not identify all who was exactly involved due to the sheer volume of people in the parking lot running around fleeing the scene.” According to the report, Rashawn Johnson, 32, of Chattanooga, TN, was detained during the fight and placed in a patrol car. According to the report, “He was explained to that he was not under arrest at this time. Rashawn was seen punching another male before being detained. The entire parking lot quickly cleared out as we were identifying some of the parties involved.” Officers were able to identify the following parties that were involved in the large brawl: Brandon Harris, Rashawn Johnson, Courtney Montgomery, Cripus Hearz, Torri Montgomery, all from Chattanooga, Tennessee. According to the individuals, Torri was arguing with another female in the parking lot. This escalated, and several people became involved. Torri was then punched by an unknown female. Several males jumped in and tried to break it up. At that time, an unknown male tried to punch Rashawn. No one wished to seek criminal action, and all were released. The majority of the people who left the scene did not want to cooperate or have anything to do with law enforcement. According to the report, the owner of the Oyster Pub, Mr. Mughrabi, wished for all parties to be banned from the property. According to repots, On December 15th, 2019, four individuals were arrested after a brawl broke out at the The Oyster Pub. All involved in that incident were also from Chattanooga, TN, as was the suspect who shot and killed a man outside the bar in April of this year.
