Sex offender arrested after failing to register in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On June 2nd, 2022, Deputy Cleary went to 1116 Willowdale Road to conduct residence checks on registered sex offenders living at the address. Deputy Cleary found that registered sex offender Will Eugenio Lemay, 28, homeless had checked out of the Stay Lodge on Friday, May 27th, 2022. According to the report, “Under O.C.G.A. 42-1-12(f)(5), any sexual offender required to register under this Code section shall update the required registration information with the sheriff of the county in which the sexual offender resides within 72 hours of any change to the required registration information.” As of Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, at 4:00 p.m., Mr. Lemay had not registered a change of residence or sleeping location with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office. According to online records, Lemay was convicted in 2014 of Sexual Battery Against a Child Under 16 Yoa.
