Silver Creek man arrested after assaulting pregnant girlfriend during domestic

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, on January 13th, 2022, at approximately 7:51 PM, Officer Wade was dispatched to an address on Ridgeview Drive in Silver Creek, Georgia, in reference to a domestic. The officer met with the victim who was holding her mouth, and noticed a small amount of blood on her lips, teeth, and gums. The officer reported, “When [I] asked the victim what happened, she informed me that she and her boyfriend Dakota Stephen Brooks, 27, Silver Creek, got into an argument. The victim proceeded to tell me that she received a phone call from an ex-boyfriend and struck up an argument. The victim’s mother has a set of rules they are not allowed to fight in the bedroom.” According to the report, When the victim asked Dakota to exit the bedroom, he began cursing and yelling at her. Dakota asked the victim for a pair of socks and shoes, and when she gave him the items, he proceeded to throw them back. Dakota then grabbed the victim by the front of her tank top and pulled her. As Dakota grabbed her, she bit him on his right hand near his thumb to make him let go. Dakota then struck her in the face using his left hand, making contact with the victim’s mouth. Both of the victim’s lips were split and swollen. The officer reported, “[I] requested for EMS to come and check out the victim due to her being four months pregnant.” The mother then agreed to drive the victim to Floyd Medical Center to have her, and the baby examined. Dakota was later found at the CITGO at the corner of Wax Road and Rockmart Road. According to the report, Dakota admitted to hitting her but said that it was not intentional. Dakota was concerned about going back to prison and said he acted in self-defense because their victim was off of her medication. Dakota was then transported and booked into the Floyd County Jail, charged with battery against a pregnant female and a probation violation.
