Silver Creek man arrested for DUI again after driving lawn mower on the wrong side of 101 in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On August 11th, 2022, at 6:29 PM, Officer Quijada and PFC. Sangphim was dispatched to a suspicious/ possible drunk person driving a lawn mower on GA 101 near the county line. Officer Carranza and Lt. Hovers were able to make contact with this person, who was identified as Bobby Gene Loveless, 73, of Silver Creek, on GA 101 at the intersection with Windmill Drive. According to the report, “OFC. Carranza and LT. Hovers tried to stop Mr. Loveless. Mr. Loveless was driving on the wrong side of the road and proceeded to drive around LT. Hovers patrol vehicle, which was displaying blue lights and a siren. While en route, officers were advised by LT. Hovers to check the area for possible beer can’s on the side of the road.” Officers were able to find beer cans that were cold and had not been opened yet. Loveless stated that the beer cans belonged to him and asked officers if he could drink them. Loveless stated that he was driving his lawn mower to Polk County to pay a citation. Officer Quijada reported, “While talking with Mr. Loveless, [I] observed slurred speech, bloodshot eyes / watery eyes, and [I] was able to smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Mr. Loveless’s person. PFC. Sangphim proceeded to ask Mr. Loveless if he would consent to do the Field Sobriety Test, to which Mr. Loveless refused. PFC. Sangphim read implied consent to Mr. Loveless. Mr. Loveless initially stated he would give a sample of his blood but then refused to implied consent and became belligerent (using profane language and not answering questions). Mr. Loveless stated in response to Implied Consent, “No I don’t give a d**n, I don’t give a f**k”.” Loveless was then placed under arrest for DUI driving under the influence. Loveless was transported to the Floyd County Jail, where he was charged with DUI, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, and driving while his license was suspended or revoked. According to Floyd County arrest reports, Loveless is a habitual violator of DUI and lost his license for DUI. In 2021 Loveless caused a serious head-on crash on Shorter Avenue while intoxicated (DUI).
