According to Floyd County Jail records, Mekiel Jamal Woolfork, 31, of Silver Creek, denied two pit-mix puppies care for Parvo, resulting in their deaths. On May 31st, 2022, Woolfork was booked into the Floyd County Jail, on aggravated animal cruelty and dogfighting charges dating back to March of 2021. He also had four adult pit bull mixed dogs that were denied food. Tools associated with dogfighting were found on the Wax Road property including two treadmills, and a spring pole with a chain typically used to condition dogs, as well as portable kennels and injectable penicillin. A large fenced-off area was found in the back of the property that is believed to be a fighting pit used for violent fights.
