Silver Creek man killed in two-vehicle crash Saturday in Floyd County

According to Floyd County Police Officer Benji Newport, at around 12:50 p.m. Saturday, November 27th, 2021, FCPD Officer responded to a fatal crash on Highway 101 at Pleasant Valley Road. Witnesses told Officer Newport Scotty Anthony Garner, 50, of Silver Creek, was southbound on 101 and turned left into the path of a northbound vehicle with two passengers. Garner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected, Newport says. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants of the other vehicle were taken to an area hospital and underwent surgery later Saturday. According to reports, Garner is the 23rd person to die on Rome/Floyd County roads this year and also is among the 20 people to die on Georgia highways during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
