Silver Creek man seriously injured in crash Thursday on Highway 27 in Catoosa County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Thursday, November 4th, 2021, at around 5:03 PM, a 2020 Dodge Ram pulling a trailer with a Bobcat excavator being driven by Christopher Brown, 50, of Silver Creek, GA, was traveling west on Tom Hunt Road, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Georgia 1 (Hwy 27). A 2018 Volvo Tractor-trailer being driven by Jason Medley, 43, of Columbia, TN, was traveling north on Georgia 1 in the right lane. According to the crash report, “Brown stated he did not see the tractor-trailer as he began to enter the roadway after stopping at the stop sign. Medley attempted to steer left to avoid impact. However, he was unsuccessful. The front of the tractor-trailer was struck the left front side of the Dodge. The Dodge then rotated clockwise as the trailer became unattached from the vehicle. The Dodge came to a final uncontrolled rest across the northbound lanes facing west. The tractor-trailer came to a final rest across the sound-bound lanes facing north. Medley stated he had dash-camera footage of the crash and would send it to the investigating trooper.” According to the report, Brown was not wearing his seatbelt and was seriously injured in the crash. Brown had to be extracted from the Dodge and was transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga by CHI EMS. Brown was issued a citation for not wearing his seatbelt and for failing to yield while entering the roadway.
