Six new Dalton police officers introduced at Tuesday morning’s Public Safety Commission meeting

The Dalton Police Department introduced the agency’s six newest officers at Tuesday morning’s meeting of the Public Safety Commission. The appointment of officers Jesus Cruz-Ramos, Wilson McNair, Terry Miller, Brandon Putnam, Kaleb Warren, and Christopher Wingate were confirmed by unanimous vote of the commission. 

Terry Miller joins the department after working nearly 18 years for DisplayCraft in Dalton. He is a 2001 graduate of Murray County High School in Chatsworth. 

Brandon Putnam is a graduate of Berry College where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 2009. He’s also a graduate of Gordon Central High School in Calhoun. Before joining the DPD he worked with two insurance agencies in Calhoun and Allgood Pest Solutions in Rome. 

Christopher Wingate comes to the DPD from Florida, where he graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree. He is joining the Dalton Police Department after beginning his career in law enforcement in Florida with the Sebring Police Department where he worked for a year after his graduation. He is also a United States Marine, serving from 2009 until 2016. 

Wilson McNair is also continuing his law enforcement career, coming to the DPD after beginning his career with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in Chattanooga. He’s a graduate of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 2017. 

Jesus Cruz-Ramos is a 2013 graduate of Calhoun High School. Before joining the police department, he worked in the floor covering industry, most recently with Mohawk Industries from 2018 until March 2022. 

Kaleb Warren is from Lafayette, Georgia. He comes to the DPD from the Department of Community Supervision as an officer based in Lafayette where he worked for one year following his 2021 graduation from Dalton State College. 

Each of the six new officers is now continuing their training in the police department’s field training officer program.
