Speeding Cedar Bluff motorcyclist injured after crashing on Hwy 27 in Walker County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on March 20th, 2021, at around 5:22 PM, a 2008 Suzuki GSXR-600 being driven by Christopher Chapman, 23, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, was traveling north on Georgia 1 (Highway 27) in the left lane near Highway 151. Georgia State Patrolman Shamblin of GSP Rome Post 38 was attempting to catch up to the motorcycle to perform a traffic stop. The trooper advised the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed while negotiating a curve to the right. The motorcyclist traveled off the roadway left as it entered the grass median. The motorcycle struck a cut-through in the grass median and overturned several times, coming to a final uncontrolled rest in the grass median. Chapman was injured in the crash and transported by CHI EMS to Erlanger Medical center in Chattanooga. Chapman was charged with the operation of an unregistered vehicle, failure to maintain lane, driving while license is suspended or revoked, and no insurance.
