Summerville man arrested after being captured on Walmart surveillance cameras stealing $600 from woman’s purse

According to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Clifford Douglas Dickerson, of 215 Marvin Avenue, Summerville, captured on Walmart surveillance cameras, stole $600 from an elderly woman’s purse while she was at The Trion Walmart on April 14th. According to the incident report, She said she left her purse in a buggy accidentally and immediately went back inside to get it. The purse was missing and later located by Walmart staff in the men’s restroom with $600 missing from inside it. Video surveillance showed Dickerson find the purse and go through it. Once he noticed the large amount of money in the purse, he then quickly headed to the restroom the purse. While inside, he took the cash and left the purse, fleeing the store. After a post on FB from Sheriff Mark Schradershowing the surveillance camera footage, he was quickly identified and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on April 23rd, charged with felony theft by taking.
