According to a Summerville Police Department incident report, On Tuesday morning, October 25th, 2022, Officer Matt Pritchard witnessed a vehicle nearly cause an accident when the driver, Norberto Hernandez, 31, of Summerville, failed to yield as he turned off Marvin Avenue onto Hwy. 27. Pritchard followed Hernandez until he pulled into George’s Quick Stop on Highland Avenue. Pritchard could smell alcohol coming from Hernandez’s breath as Hernandez was apologizing for pulling out in front of traffic. Hernandez consented to Pritchard’s request for a field sobriety test and showed several signs of intoxication. When he blew into an alcosensor, Hernandez’s blood-alcohol content was listed at .330. Hernandez admitted to drinking as early as, “45 minutes ago” and also said he had taken “some kind of medication.” Hernandez was booked into the Chattooga County Jail, charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, DUI, and driving while suspended.
