Summerville man assaults and threatens to kill woman during violent domestic in Chattooga County

According to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on October 17th, 2021, 11:42 PM, Deputy Clark responded to an address on Ridgewood Circle regarding a domestic altercation. According to the report, “Deputies were notified the Offender Claude Lavaugh Foster, of Summerville, had left the residence driving a blue Chevrolet Avalanche heading to Chattanooga, TN. Deputies made contact with the victim, who was reported as being emotionally and physically upset. She stated she and Foster had been invited to a get-together at or near 6th.-7th. Street located in Summerville. She stated while there, she was talking to another male concerning business opportunities, and Foster became very irate at the male using obscene language and calling him racist names. She stated they left immediately and went to her residence. While at the house, Foster grabbed her around the throat, choking her and calling her a whore. She stated a struggle ensued as she attempted to get away from him. She stated he violently dragged her by the hair on her head into the bedroom, tossing her onto the bed. She stated he started beating her in the head with his fist continuing to call her a whore. She stated he covered her face with a pillow stating he was going to kill her. She stated her daughter broke into the locked bedroom door and fought Foster off of her to save her mother. Redmond EMS responded to the scene to check the victim, who was observed to have large red markings about her neck area from the clavicle area up to the lower jaw area. Deputies advised the victim to seek further legal counsel for obtaining a restraining order and was given a crisis contact pamphlet. Foster was arrested on October 31st, 2021, charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and terroristic threats and acts.
