According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Thursday, October 7th, 2021, at around 8:00 AM, a 2001 Honda Accord being driven by Key’Monica Wedgeworth, 17, of Summerville, was traveling north on John Jones Road. According to the crash report, “Wedgeworth was traveling too fast for conditions and failed to maintain her lane, causing the vehicle to travel off the west shoulder of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, Wedgeworth overcorrected, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise while traveling back onto the roadway and off the east side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway the second time, the driver’s side of the Honda struck a tree. The area of impact was off the east side of John Jones Road.” Wedgeworth had to be extracted from the vehicle and was transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome by Redmond EMS. The trooper gave the woman a warning.
