Summerville woman arrested after driving away without paying for gas several times in Chattooga County

According to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On May 27th, 2022, Investigator Flood met with the manager at the Murphy USA store located at 13425 Hwy 27 in Trion. She wanted to report another gas drive-off case. According to the report, The Investigator Flood observed a video showing all four incidents and explained how she found out about them. She explained that her computer system that links her registers to her gas pumps is very intelligent. According to the report, “The new system knows when a pump is turned on, and it knows how the person selects how to pay for the fuel they pump. When a person selects to post-pay for fuel, that is, they select to turn the pump on, pump the amount of fuel they want and then pay inside at the register, and the system knows this. When that amount of fuel is never paid for on that particular pump number, the system sends out a gas drive-off report. The report has the pump number, the time, and the amount of the drive-off. The system does this automatically. Using that report, she and her assistant manager was able to look back at the video and compiled all four times the same vehicle with the same driver pulled up to the pumps and generated a gas drive-off report from the system.” Investigator Flood observed that all four times, the driver was the same person. The investigator could also see the registration plate of the back of the vehicle was Georgia, TEA6718 with Chattooga County. The plate through GCIC came back to a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban white in color registered to a Ms. Torria Alexis Ludy, 22, of Summerville. Investigator Flood reported, “[I] then ran that name through GCIC. [I] also looked up that female in my Eagle database to see if she had a past arrest and booking photo. Ms. Ludy did have a booking photo on file in my system. The photo was from May 13th, 2022. Comparing that photo and the video of the gas drive-off, it was very clear that the female driving the white Suburban was indeed Ms. Ludy, the vehicle owner.” The store’s CCTV system showed on April 18th, at 9:20 AM, she pumped $74.99 dollars worth of fuel and then left, never going inside the store. On April 24th, at 11:39 AM, she pumped $50.16 dollars worth of fuel and then left, never going inside the store. On April 29th, she pumped $60.59 dollars worth of fuel and then left, never going inside the store. On May 6th, she pumped $58.13 dollars worth of fuel and then left, never going inside the store. Investigator Flood reported, “The total amount of fuel that was pumped and never paid for is $243.87 dollars. In one of the videos, the driver’s face is covered by the vehicle’s dark tinted windows, but [I] was able to zoom in and see the same short hairstyle that the driver was wearing like the same in every video. In the other three videos, the driver can easily be seen exiting the vehicle, pumping the fuel, and then returning to the vehicle just seconds before it leaves the property without paying for the fuel.” The total amount of fuel that was pumped and never paid for is $243.87 dollars.
