Teenager arrested after driving reckless at speeds over 100 mph on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On May 9th, 2022, at approximately 7:35 AM, while sitting stationary on I-75 Northbound near mile marker 341, Trooper E. Shackleford observed a Green Chevrolet Truck traveling recklessly at a high rate of speed. Trooper Shackleford reported, “[I] used my state-issued Stalker Lidar to detect the speed of the oncoming vehicle. The laser displayed a speed of 102 miles per hour. The posted speed limit was 70 miles per hour. [I] activated my blue lights and siren, initiating a traffic stop.” She informed the driver to step out of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Robert Earl Tuttle, 18, of Rocky Face. She asked Tuttle if there was a reason for him to be traveling at such a high speed in traffic. According to the report, “Mr. Tuttle advised that he was running late and was then placed under arrest for reckless driving. Tuttle was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with reckless driving and speeding.
