Teenager crashes stolen vehicle into a concrete pole after high-speed chase throughout Rome

According to Floyd County Jail records, Avant Deshawn Fleetwood, 17, of Rome, on May 25th, 2022, fled from a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle, leading police on a chase through East Rome and South Rome. During the pursuit, Fleetwood ran red lights and stop signs, continuously going into the opposite lanes of travel. He eventually crashed the vehicle into some concrete poles and fled on foot. Fleetwood turned himself in at the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday. He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, hit and run, duty upon striking a fixture, theft by receiving stolen property, reckless driving, obstruction of officers, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to maintain a lane, failure to obey traffic control devices, running a stop sign, too fast for conditions, failure to use a turn signal, and driving without a license.
