Tennessee man arrested after ramming patrol vehicles during three-county 100 mph chase down I-75

From the Georgia Department of Public Safety Public Information Office On July 23rd, 2023, at approximately 1:18am, Troopers observed a white Ford F-350 traveling at an extremely high rate of speed on I-75 Southbound in Whitfield County. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle that had recently fled from a Ringgold Police Officer on I-75. The officer had attempted to stop the Ford for speeding at 91 mph. Troopers activated their emergency equipment to perform a traffic stop on the Ford, but the driver of the Ford failed to stop and initiated a pursuit. Troopers pursued the violator for several miles down I-75 at speeds well over 100 mph into Gordon County when the violator took exit #320 and continued fleeing west on GA 136. On GA 136 at Hyde Road in Gordon County, the violator entered a gas station parking lot. While exiting the parking lot, the violator intentionally struck a Whitfield County Deputy’s patrol car head on. The violator then placed his vehicle in reverse and rammed the front of the troopers patrol vehicle twice. The violator then continued to flee traveling north on Hyde Road back into Whitfield County where troopers again became the primary pursuing unit. Trooper’s were able to get the violator stopped on Baker Road and he attempted to flee the scene on foot into the nearby wood line. Troopers pursued the violator on foot through the woods and deployed their departmental taser to effect an arrest. The violator was identified as David Clark Semon, 44, of Tennessee. Semon stated he fled and assaulted officers because he believed he had a warrant for his arrest. Semon was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, charged with felony fleeing, felony obstruction of officers resulting in injury, battery against law enforcement, aggravated assault, and a list of traffic charges.
