Tennessee women arrested after shoplifting from Dalton Walmart

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On September 23rd, 2022, at 6:40 PM, Officer McDaniel was dispatched to Walmart located at 815 Shugart Road in reference to several shoplifting that had already occurred. Officer Murdoch was also on scene for assistance. Officers arrived and was advised by the Walmart loss prevention associate that an additional theft was currently taking place in the self-checkout area of the store. The associate quickly showed officers surveillance footage of a woman who would later be identified as Victoria Negron 28, of Dayton, TN, “Slip scanning” items at the self-serve register. According to the report, “She did this by clearly not scanning a pair of jeans as she pulled them towards her body and then placed them into a checkout bag. Additionally, she failed to pay for a tee-shirt and walked past all points of sale. Before making contact with the suspect, officers were informed that a woman that was with Victoria had also just shoplifted multiple items. She did this by not paying for merchandise and walking past all points of sale. That additional suspect would soon be identified as Courtney¬†Angel¬†Whidden, 32, of TN. Courtney had walked past all points of sale and into the women’s restroom at that time.” Officers waited for Courtney to exit the store before attempting to stop her. As officers tried to stop her, she immediately took off running northbound through the parking lot. She was quickly apprehended by Officer Murdoch and Officer McDaniel after foot pursuit. Victoria failed to pay for $30.96 worth of clothing and Courtney failed to pay for $10.98 in various clothing. Courtney fully admitted that she had clearly shoplifted from the store. However, Victoria claimed that she didn’t steal and claimed that she made a simple unintentional mistake. Both women were transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with theft by shoplifting.
