Three injured in serious head-on crash Saturday on Red Belt Road in Walker County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, On Saturday, May 14th, 2022, at 7:26 PM, a 2012 Jeep Patriot being driven by Tyler Chambers, 28, of Ringgold, was traveling west on Red Belt Road, negotiating a curve near Lee & Gordon Mill. A 2018 Hyundai Tuscon being driven by Kristen Massengale, 38, of Ringgold, was traveling east on Red Belt Road, negotiating a curve. According to the crash report, “Tyler was traveling too fast for the wet conditions of the roadway and began to slide. Tyler failed to maintain his lane of travel and crossed over the double yellow centerline. The Jeep struck the Hyundai in the front driver’s side with it’s front driver’s side. After impact, the Jeep rotated counterclockwise and came to an uncontrolled rest on the north shoulder of Red Belt Road. After impact, the Hyundai struck the guard rail with its rear and came to an uncontrolled rest on the south shoulder of Red Belt Road. Tyler advised that he began to slide while negotiating the curve.” Both Tyler and Kristen were seriously injured in the crash and transported by CHI EMS to Erlanger in Chattanooga. A passenger in the Jeep, Lyndsey Chambers, 29, of Ringgold, was also injured and transported by CHI EMS to Erlanger in Chattanooga. Tyler was cited by the Georgia State Patrol for traveling too fast for conditions and failure to maintain a lane.
