Traffic stop for hands-free violation leads to wanted felon driving on a suspended license in Catoosa County

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on June 20th, 2022, at 1:00 PM, Deputy Hooton stopped a 2007 Ford F-150 after observing the driver, later identified as Jeffery Wade Anthony, 44, of Rossville, holding his cell phone up to his right ear. Jeffery advised he was not talking on his cell phone, but he was listening to music instead. According to the report, “Deputy Hooton asked Jeffery for his driver’s license, and Jeffery advised he did not have his license because it was suspended through Georgia. Jeffery went on to say that he also had a felony warrant through Catoosa County for Probation violation.” The deputy was able to confirm through Catoosa 911 that Jeffery did have an active felony warrant on him, and his driver’s license was suspended through Georgia. Captain Keener and Detective Lyons responded to assist Deputy Hooton. During the inventory of the truck, marijuana was found under the flip-down armrest/center seat of the truck. Jeffery was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with hands-free violation, felony probation violation, driving on a suspended license, and possession of marijuana.
