Trion man arrested for DUI after being found passed out drunk behind the wheel in the middle of the roadway

According to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on Saturday, March 12th, 2022, at 4:00 AM, Deputy Jared Walks responded to several calls to 911 about a man slumped over his steering wheel at the intersection of Mountain View Road and Highway. 27. Deputy Wilks approached the Ford F-150 pickup truck and saw Gregory Roy Witt, 41, of Trion, “asleep with his head down.” The deputy could see an opened 12 pack of Miller High Life beers in the vehicle. The deputy woke Witt up, had him step out of the vehicle and found a loaded .22 revolver on Witt’s waistband. After failing field sobriety test and showing positive for BAC, Witt was placed into custody and transported to the Chattooga County Jail, charged with DUI/alcohol and obstructing intersection.
