Trion man arrested for DUI after speeding on Highland Avenue in Summerville

According to a Summerville Police Department incident report, on October 19th, 2022, at 1:07 AM, Officer Matthew Wilson checked a Dodge Journey traveling 62 mph in a 30 mph zone on Highland Avenue and stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of George’s Kwik Stop. According to the report, Wilson could smell marijuana in the vehicle, which led to Rocky Nathaniel Jarrett, 34, of Trion, handing over a bag containing less than an ounce of marijuana. Wilson searched Jarrett’s person and found two yellow ecstasy pills in a black container and a straw with residue on it. Wilson then smelled alcohol on Jarrett’s breath and asked if he had been drinking. Jarrett admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana before he had left work. Jarrett was booked into the Chattooga County charged with possession of ecstasy, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
