According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on May 20th, 2021, a Whitfield County detective began an investigation with tip 8582472 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline. According to the report, “There were a large amount of video files containing obvious prepubescent children involved in various sex acts attached to the Internet Crimes Against Children digital case file.” Jose Dejesus Hernandez, 21, Tunnel Hill was arrested and charged by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with computer or electronic pornography. Hernandez was booked into the Whitfield County jail on Thursday, May 27th, 2021. Tuesday afternoon. According to the sheriff’s office, the case is being handled through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a multi-agency task force led in Georgia by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation that includes the sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s Office Lt. McAllister said none of the children in the files appear to be from this area. As of Friday Hernandez remained in the jail with no bond.
