Tunnel Hill woman booked on felony charges related to April carjacking and pursuit in Fort Oglethorpe

On April 13, 2023 at 11:25 am, Fort Oglethorpe Police officers were dispatched to the Walmart located 3040 Battlefield Parkway in reference to a white female later identified as Debra Jaye Bice, 49, of Tunnel Hill, pulling a knife and taking a silver Dodge Neon from a elderly female Walmart employee in the parking lot of Walmart. The victim was not injured in the carjacking. Bice then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle toward Battlefield Parkway. Shortly after, Fort Oglethorpe officers located the vehicle and a felony pursuit was initiated Northbound on Highway 27. The pursuit continued through Rossville, Georgia and into Chattanooga Tennessee. Bice eventually pulled into a residential driveway on 40th Street in Chattanooga where officers took Bice at gunpoint and into custody without incident. According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department press release report, “There were no accidents or injuries that occurred during the incident or the pursuit that followed.” On July 25th, 2023, Bice was arrested on warrants and was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charge with felony fleeing, felony hijacking motor vehicle, and felony theft by taking.
