According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, March 31st, 2022, at 4:30 PM, a 2003 Jeep Wrangler being driven by Christian Gass, 22, of Chattanooga, TN, was traveling north on Cloverdale Road negotiating a curve. According to the crash, “Gass was traveling too fast for the curve of the roadway and failed to maintain his lane of travel. The Jeep exited the east shoulder with it’s passenger’s side tires. Gass over-corrected his steering to the left and the Jeep started to yaw counter-clockwise. The Jeep overturned onto its passenger’s side. The Jeep exited the west shoulder and struck a mailbox and a driveway culvert with it’s roof. The Jeep overturned and landed upright on it’s tires. The Jeep struck a telephone pole with it’s front. The Jeep came to a final uncontrolled rest on the west shoulder of Cloverdale Road. Earlier on this date there was a BOLO from Dade County at approximately 3:25 PM, that a black Jeep drove off with the gas hose still attached to the vehicle from the Lotto Mart gas station. After video review from the Lotto Mart cameras, this was the vehicle and driver which was a blue Jeep Wrangler. After inspection of the Jeep, the sway bar links were disconnected. Sway bars are designed to help or prevent roll over.” Both Gass and a passenger Robert Dawson, 22, of Trenton were not wearing seatbelt and were fully ejected from the vehicle. Both Gass and Dawson were seriously injured and transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. According to the report, charges are pending and SCRT is investigating.
