According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On April 20th, 2022, at 8:50 AM, Trooper Burchett was running Lidar on I-75 North at MM 307. Trooper Burchett reported, “[I] observed a white Jeep Cherokee in the left lane traveling at a high rate of speed as it approached another car in the left lane. [I] checked the Jeep at 100 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. The driver of the Jeep swerved to the middle lane to pass the other vehicle and sped up to 110 MPH in the middle lane before swerving back to the left lane. [I] had the Lidar on the Jeep the entire time as he accelerated past my location.” The trooper conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Akumbe Njiwah, 37, of Largo, Florida, by his Florida identification card. Njiwah stated to the trooper that he sped up to exit into the rest area but that he then missed the rest area. Njiwah stated that he had lost his license in a car crash. The passenger was identified as Kayla Hiersche and stated that her Florida license was not valid as well. Njiwah was transported to the Gordon County Jail, where he was charged with driving without a valid license, speeding, and reckless driving.
