Unlicensed man arrested after causing three-vehicle crash on Cleveland Highway in Whitfield County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021, at around 5:55 PM, a 2018 Ford F-150 Super Cab owned by S&P Contracting being driven by Rodolfo Garcia Canales, 46, of Dalton, was traveling north on GA-71 in the north, left turn travel lane. A 2017 Toyota RAV4 being driven by Audrey Holder, 18, of Rocky Face, was traveling south on GA-71 in the south, inside the travel lane. A 2015 Kia being driven by William Hipp, 64 of Dalton, was stopped facing east on Williams Road in the east, left turn travel lane at a red traffic light. Rodolfo failed to yield, pulling out directly in front of the Toyota while attempting to turn left onto Williams Road west. The front of the Toyota struck the passenger’s side of the Ford. The area of impact was in the intersection of GA-71 at Williams Road. After impact, the Ford overturned, coming to an uncontrolled final rest facing northwest on its topside with its hood on top of the hood of the Kia. After impact, the Toyota rotated clockwise, coming to an uncontrolled final rest facing west in the intersection of GA-71 at Williams Road. The Kia remained facing east on Williams Road in the left turn travel lane with the hood of vehicle #1 laid on top of its hood. Injuries were reported in the crash. According to the report, Rodolfo was driving while unlicensed and arrested by the Georgia State Patrol. Rodolfo was booked into the Whitfield County Jail charged with failure to yield while turning left and driving with a valid license.
