According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on June 15th, 2021, at approximately 7:54 PM, Deputy Pritchard was sitting stationary on I-75 northbound at mile marker 339. According to the report, “Deputy Pritchard observed traffic was heavy at this time. Deputy Pritchard observed a silver color Kawasaki ZX1200 motorcycle with a Georgia tag traveling north in the left lane. Deputy Pritchard observed the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles quickly. Deputy Pritchard checked the vehicle’s speed with department-issued Dragon Eye Speed Lidar (serial number 14796). Deputy Pritchard observed the vehicle was traveling 107 mph in a 70 mph zone.” The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Adrian Thornton, 54, of Tunnel Hill. Thornton advised he did not have a motorcycle license. NCIC confirmed Thornton did not have a motorcycle license. Thornton was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with speeding, driving while unlicensed, and reckless driving.
