Unlicensed Ohio man arrested after passing GSP trooper at speeds over 100 mph on I-75 in Gordon County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, on May 29th, 2021, at around 5:48 PM, Corporal Boyd was traveling south I-75 southbound, near MM 315, in a marked Georgia State Patrol vehicle. Trooper Boyd reported, “It was the Saturday before Memorial Day, and traffic volume appeared to be medium. [I] saw a grey Volkswagen Jetta traveling south on I-75 behind me in the left lane. The Jetta appeared to be traveling at speed over the posted seventy (70) MPH speed limit. The Jetta passed me on the left at a high rate of speed. [I] estimated, checked, and confirmed the Jetta’s speed at 103 MPH using the front antenna of a RADAR unit.” The trooper initiated a traffic stop on the Jetta and made contact with the driver, identified as Arious Jermaine Ball, 24, of Ohio. Ball stated he was unlicensed and presented the trooper with an Ohio Identification Card. Ball was placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest, the trooper located a green leafy bud substance in Ball’s pocket. The leafy substance was disposed of at the traffic stop scene. Ball was transported to the Gordon County Jail charged with driving while unlicensed, speeding, reckless driving.
