Walker County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal shooting in Rossville Monday

UPDATE: The United States Marshals Service says it helped Walker County, Georgia authorities arrest a murder suspect in Huntsville Wednesday night. Johntae Kavon Collier, 22, of Huntsville, was booked into the Madison County Jail on a fugitive from justice charge around 9:15 Wednesday night. A spokesperson for the US Marshals says Collier is wanted in Rossville for murder and aggravated assault with a gun. Collier was extradited back to Georgia and booked into the Walker County Jail, on August 12th, 2022.

According to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, on Monday, August 1st, around 1:45 PM, deputies responded to the 400 block of East Peachtree Street in reference to a shooting. When officers. Deputies arrived on the scene and found a 24-year-old man shot in the chest inside a mobile home. According to he Sheriff Wilson, The victim later died at the hospital. The Sheriff said the victim’s girlfriend was also inside the home at the time of the shooting, but was uninjured. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two suspects. One of the suspects is identified as a young black male. They are looking for a red GMC Pickup truck and a dark blue Dodge Challenger that fled the scene after the shooting.
