According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, September 13th, 2021, at 4:55 AM, Officer Morang reported, “We were advised that it was a male subject later identified as Doriam Arturo Mota, 27, of Chattanooga, TN, wearing a white tank top and shorts, and he was walking toward Willowdale Road. We were advised that he shoplifted water bottles.” When officers arrived in the area, they located Mota walking on the Chattanooga Road bridge just before Willowdale Road. Mota was wearing a white tank top and shorts. He was also carrying two water bottles. According to the report, Officers made contact was made with Mota, and he told officers that he paid for the water. He stated that he didn’t have a receipt. The clerk at the Mapco stated Mota stole three water bottles. Two of them were Fiji water, and the other was the good living water. The clerk also said that she told him he had to pay for them as he exited the store, and he just cussed her out. According to the report, “Mota was arrested for theft by shoplifting. The total value of the water bottles was $6.87. The bottles were photographed, and photos were attached to this report.” Mota was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, and it was determined that he also had a felony failure to appear warrant through Hamilton County, TN, for larceny. Hamilton County advised they wished to place a hold.
