According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On August 25th 2022, at 2:30 PM, Deputies Tabellion, Pritchard, Greene, and Smith arrived at an address on Stafford Way in Cohutta in reference to an active Warrant on Anthony Phillips. According to the report, Deputies observed the front door of the house was open. As Deputies were parking, they observed the front door get slammed shut very quickly. As Deputies set up a perimeter, they located male outside that stated that he only knew of Stephen Randall Langford, 42, of Dalton being in the house. According to the report, “Deputies had Dispatch check locals on Mr. Lankford. Dispatch advised that Mr. Lankford had three felony warrants. Being that a resident of the house verified that Lankford was inside the home and refusing to answer the door, Deputies forced entry by kicking through the door.” As Deputies made entry into the home, they immediately encountered William Grant Sexton, 24, of Cohutta, who also was found to have felony warrants. Deputies also found Phillips and placed him into custody with Sexton. Deputy Pritchard received a phone call from a Detective who advised there was a false wall on the backside of the house. Deputy Tabellion re-entered the home and found a bedroom that was accessible from the bathroom. Lankford was also located and placed under arrest. Lankford, Sexton, and Phillips were all transported to the Whitfield County Jail and booked. Phillips was charged with the warrants for possession of a firearm by a convicted Felon, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense, possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotics, opiates, and probation warrant original offense, violation of dangerous drugs act. Lankford was charged with felony probation violation warrant original offense, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and felony probation violation. Sexton was also charged with felony probation violation.
