Woman arrested for driving unlicensed punches officer while being booked into the Whitfield County Jail

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on July 20th, 2021, 2:27 AM, Deputy Henderson responded to I-75 northbound for a BOLO for a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze GA with a temp tag that was failing to maintain lane. According to the report, “Deputy Henderson got behind it and observed the car run out of the road twice.” The deputy conducted a traffic stop at mile marker 332 and made contact with the driver identified as Chastyn Zavala-Eude, 26 of Norcross. According to the report, Eude was found to be unlicensed and was arrested. Ms. Eude and her two Juveniles were transported to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, and the two juveniles were put in the central control lobby while Eude was transported to Booking. At about 4:16 AM, while Eude was being searched at the jail to be booked in on a simple misdemeanor charge when she, without warning, punched Jail Officer Carli Redmond with her right hand striking Officer Redmond on the Left Breast. According to the report, “Officer Redmond then immediately struck Ms. Zavala-Eude on the face with her left hand knocking Ms. Zavala-Eude to the ground. Officer Redmond then starting trying to gain control of Ms. Zavala-Eude.” Sergeant Martin then assisted Officer Redmond with handcuffing Zavala-Eude, and they both placed her in a holding cell in the booking department. She was additionally charged with battery against law enforcement personnel. DFACS was then called for the kids.
